Admissions: Mainstreaming

DePaul recognizes the importance of preparing the student to succeed in the educational mainstream. Our goal is to provide each student with the necessary academic and social skills to ensure a smooth transition.

Mainstreaming is a process that requires the coordinated efforts of the student, family, DePaul staff, and the new school.

  • DePaul works with the student to develop self confidence in their ability to succeed in the classroom and as a member of a peer group.
  • DePaul provides information to the families about readiness for mainstreaming and appropriate academic placement.
  • DePaul supports the student and family by arranging visits to the new school and opportunities for partial mainstreaming.
  • DePaul collaborates with the new school to ensure that proper educational supports including audiology, speech and language, academic, and oral transliteration are in place.

DePaul's success as a quality auditory oral program can be measured by our former students' success in the mainstream. For more information about the DePaul Mainstreaming Program, contact Dave Williams, depaulschool@depaulinst.com.
