CELEBRATING
100 YEARS
OF
SPEAKING MIRACLES
Sunday,
September 14, 2008
On Sunday, September 14,
2008, alumni, current and past staff, teachers and administrators of DePaul
School for Hearing and Speech along with members of the Diocese of Pittsburgh,
the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill and Sacred Heart Parish in Shadyside, came
together to celebrate DePaul School for Hearing and Speech’s Centennial with a very special Catholic mass
celebration.
The mass was held at
Sacred Heart Church in Shadyside and presided by Bishop David Zubik. The
celebration began with Sister Vivian Linkhauer, representing the Sisters of
Charity of Seton Hill, recognizing all those who have contributed to DePaul
through the years and all those in attendance that served the school in the
past and present. During his homily, Bishop Zubik applauded the selfless
dedication of so many through the years who have served children with hearing
impairments that attended DePaul.
The Mass celebration was
immediately followed by an open house at DePaul School. At the open house,
attendees were able to view a timeline display along with an opportunity to
view archives from DePaul’s 100 years.
Classrooms equipped with the latest in technology were open for all to view and
folks were treated to food and beverages in DePaul’s cafeteria.
