Through the years, thousands of students have left their educational experience at DePaul School for Hearing and Speech with a sense of purpose and determination to become active and productive participants in the hearing and speaking world.
Earlier generations of DePaul students primarily attended the school throughout their entire elementary and secondary education. Prior to 1971, many also resided at DePaul.
In recent years, thanks to many advances in medicine and assistive hearing technology, deaf/hard of hearing children are beginning their educational experience as toddlers and mainstreaming into traditional school settings at much younger ages - from kindergarten to eighth grade.

Today, DePaul School students continue their education in mainstream elementary and secondary schools. Many former DePaul students pursue postsecondary education opportunities.
Numerous alums and their families remain active in supporting DePaul. Many participate at various school related events throughout the year including the Annual Gala, Walk for a Healthy Community and the Night at the Races. If you are an alum, you can keep in touch with DePaul in various ways including:
Rita Mae (Visco) Calvaruso ’56, was recently honored at the Third Annual “Reach for the Stars” Gala as DePaul’s first Distinguished Alumni Award recipient. Mike Bobanic, DePaul ’68, provided the audience with an extended tribute to Rita at the Gala and many members of Rita’s family and friends were in attendance.
Additional alumni news and profiles are available in past issues of DePaul's quarterly newsletter, Speaking Miracles.
Various graduates from the 1940s, 50s, 60s and early 70s have developed a DePaul Alumni Group that is independent from the school. This group organizes reunions and events every few years. Some of these events include 75th, 90th and 95th Anniversary celebrations.
