DePaul provides
auditory-oral education for children from 18 months through age 14. We believe that children who are deaf and
hard of hearing have the potential to develop listening and spoken language
skills as the foundation for lifelong literacy and intellectual growth.
ACADEMIC PROGRAMS
INCLUDE:
Early
Intervention – Infants & Toddlers
Collaboration between
teachers and families is a key component of DePaul’s Early Intervention programs.
Family participation and involvement are encouraged and fostered in all of the
Early Intervention programs offered. The result is more integrated and
comprehensive educational plans that lead to successful spoken language
outcomes. DePaul’s Early Intervention
programs include the Parent-Infant program which includes home-based services
and the Toddler-Parent
program that includes a center-based toddler program. DePaul staff work closely with parents and
caregivers during the crucial early years of development.
Early
Childhood Department
Preschool and Kindergarten
classrooms are where DePaul
students curriculum is accelerate the
development of their auditory, speech and language skills. Early academics,
fine motor, gross motor and personal/social skills are also developed.

Primary and Secondary Department
DePaul’s Primary and Secondary Department
provides students with a curriculum parallels that of a traditional school and
is closely aligned with state and national standards in all academic areas.
PARTNERING WITH FAMILIES
Families are encouraged to be actively involved in their
child’s education. Through attending
monthly conferences, parents provide input on their child’s progress and help
determine new language and listening goals.
Teachers provide weekly language targets, vocabulary and follow up
activities to families so they can support their child’s learning at home. Daily communication with families is done
through communication books, speech books and emails.
