Academics: Primary & middle school

DePaul's 1st through 8th grade curriculum parallels that of a traditional school curriculum and is closely aligned with state and national standards in all academic areas.

  • Emphasis is placed on the development of literacy skills which best promote academic progress.
  • Individual speech therapy is provided for all students three to five days a week.
  • Students receive daily instruction in reading, writing, mathematics, science and social studies.
  • Students also receive music, art, health, computer skills, and year book on a quarterly basis.
  • All students receive social and self advocacy skills to prepare them for success as they move into the mainstream environment.
  • The use of technology such as computers, wireless laptops, Smart boards, digital cameras and video cameras is integrated into all the curriculum areas.
