Estate Planning

toddclass

Thoughtful estate planning is one means by which we can leave a legacy and affirm our core values through helping others. It is also a means leaving positive impressions behind, enhancing the lives of our friends and loved ones and providing footprints to follow.

Please consider the effect of a plan that includes not only provisions for family members, but also resources for DePaul School for Hearing and Speech.

An estate gift makes a positive statement

When you include DePaul School in the final disposition of your estate, you declare to your family and friends that you believe in and care about our mission. Unlike virtually all other private schools in the region, DePaul's programs are free to parents and caregivers of approved students. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Allegheny County subsidize a portion of the tuition. We rely on the generosity of foundations, corporations and individuals to fund the remaining educational costs. We take pride in never turning a child away due to financial constraints.

An estate gift provides needed funding

Estate gifts are especially valuable because they often come at critical times. They provide that extra boost to the budget that can make the difference between funding critical programs or delaying starts until funds become available. For example, recent gifts have helped to expand our Toddler-Parent Program and library (as part of a "Literacy Enrichment Project").

There's something about a well-planned estate gift that influences others to "go and do likewise." As friends and family members plan their own estates, they may recall your generosity and thoughtfulness. Moreover, the current tax code makes it possible for individuals to receive significant tax advantages while donating to DePaul and, concurrently, providing for themselves and/or other beneficiaries during their lifetimes. An individual may establish a charitable trust to benefit DePaul while still enjoying an income stream from the money to be donated.

We can provide you with the information and materials you need to include charitable giving in your overall estate plan. Please contact Lillian R. Lippencott, Director of Outreach & Development, at 412-924-1012 or depaulschool@depaulinst.com for more information.
