DePaul School for
Hearing and Speech provides physical and occupational therapy services on-site.
The licensed therapists each have over 15 years of experience working with deaf
or hard of hearing students in an auditory-oral environment.
The therapists provide screenings,
evaluations, and direct treatment in the following areas:
• sensory processing
• gross and fine motor performance
• self-care activities
• visual and perceptual skills
• handwriting
Preschool children participate in group sensory motor activities
that address specific developmental fine and gross motor skills. Classroom consultation enhances the development of specific
skills and make appropriate adaptations to improve classroom performance and
foster independence. At DePaul, we believe
that physical and occupational therapy are part of a holistic approach that
enables every child to fully benefit from the educational program.
